Cauliflower.....cauliflower......and MORE cauliflower!!!

Two weekends ago we went to my parents for the weekend. We have a nice time seeing them and the girls really enjoy their grandparents. Katie and Thomas came out for supper Saturday night at my parents to see us. We all had some fun playing with water and running through my old childhood sprinkler.

Katie and Susanna

Thomas is being a bad influence to Addy ;-)

Sunday night when we got home there was a ton of cauliflower and broccoli ready. Jake and I cut it up that night and then I blanched and froze it that next day (Monday). I got 13 bags of cauliflower and 10 bags of cauliflower/broccoli mix.

Cauliflower and broccoli, the bowl is for size comparison.

The one in the middle is pretty big.

Jake wanted to take a picture of me with it.

Addy and the big cauliflower head.

Cutie :-)

It weighed 5 pounds and 3 ounces.

One morning last week Susanna rolled over and was laying on her stomach all cute. Here is some of the "picture session."

TOO darn cute!

Last week we weren't able to use our tub for two days because Jake had it torn apart to work on it. During the first day (of all the days of course), Addy pours cranberry juice all over herself. The funny part is that she pretty much only got juice on herself and nothing else. I ended up taking her with me into the shower upstairs to clean her up.

My little sleepy head.....I always just want to snuggle next to her. Babies are so adorable when they are sleeping.

Saturday we were picking cauliflower. Turns out ALL of it was ready. We brought a couple of the 13 heads to my mom and some to Katie. But we had to freeze the rest of it on Saturday because we had no room in our fridge. We ended up getting 32 bags of cauliflower!!! It was a lot of work but I am glad it is done and one more thing I can mark off the list.

SOOO much cauliflower!!

On Sunday we went to Fargo to help Katie and Thomas move a piano. The guys went to get the piano (a three hour drive there and back) and the girls stayed at Katie and Thomas' apartment. It was nice to visit and I helped Katie freeze her cauliflower. My parents stopped by to visit, pick up their produce from us and drop some stuff off with us. Moving the piano went well. Now it is safely in their apartment.

Addy walking around in mommy's sandals.

I was taking Susanna's shorts/pants off and thought it would be funny to put them on her head. She actually looks pretty cute. She looks like she is folding her hands in prayer.

Smiler...

She loves to grab her feet. Sometimes she will grab both at the same time and just sit like that. She also likes to chew on her toes.

Muffin making disaster! This morning Addy and I were making Zucchini chocolate chip muffins. I made a double batch because I needed some for Jake's lunches and some for the weekend. Well, we had just put in the last of the flour, just had to add the choc. chips after that. I had Addy turn the mixer on, she had done it for most of the ingredients and had done fine. Well, the knob was kind of stuck so I think she pushed pretty hard to get it to move. She pushed it all the way to full speed. Batter and flour were flying EVERYWHERE!! As you can see she was covered, I was covered, everything on the counter was covered, and the floor was a mess. We both got in the shower right away. It took me hours to clean it up because I was only able to do a little at a time. In between there was lunch, Susanna woke up, Susanna needing to be fed, girls put down for naps, explosive poop from Susanna and so on. My day has been very miserable to say the least!

My nice clean counter was destroyed.......*tear* :-(

Addy is talking more!
For a while I was starting to get worried about Addy talking. She was saying a couple things: daddy, ma mum, mommy, puppy, kitty, no and "nyeah" (for yes). Now it seems like she is picking up new words every day. She now says: "own" (for down), "uppy" (for up), "nigh nigh", "done" or sometimes it's "one", "ore" (for more), "baa" (for bath), "pee" (for please), "anna" (for Susanna), and "bebe" (for baby). The more words she can say the less frustrated she gets when she wants/needs something. I like being able to communicate with her better....it makes me less frustrated too :-) !!!!

Susanna can roll over!

Last Saturday Susanna rolled over for the first time....at exactly 3 mon. old! I was pretty excited, although nobody actually saw her do it :-(. I found her on her tummy, when I know I put her on her back. She didn't roll over anymore that day but then on Sunday was rolling over like crazy! Throughout the week she has been rolling more and more. Whenever I put her on the floor that is the first thing she does. She has also been rolling over in her bed, which wakes her up and makes her mad. I worry about her doing this, but there is nothing I can really do. Today, Friday July 13th, Susanna rolled over the other way (from her stomach to her back) for the first time. She now rolls everywhere! She has rolled back and forth multiple times now.

Also, on Saturday we were shelling peas. Addy wanted to help. She did a really good job getting the pods open and pulling the little peas out......most of them made it into her bowl, only a couple took a slight detour to her mouth :-).

Silly girl had all these nice smiles but would not look at me.

Monday....the first time I put Susanna in the bumbo. She actually sits up pretty good in it. Addy likes touching her fingers.....

.......and toes :-).

My two beautiful girls!

Miss blondie curly cues.....

.......and Miss Susanna banana!

Playing with the toys sitting in her bumbo.

Here is Susanna rolling onto her stomach. For the first couple days she would get her arm stuck while trying to roll over.....man would she get mad! She has a little bit of a temper ;-).

Arm stuck.....starting to get angry.

Sadly at almost two years of age Addy can still fit into the bumbo!

Smiles!

She is such a happy baby!

We had pork chops one night.....Jake thought Susanna would like some.

He wants her to like MEAT.....just like her father.

Loves to stick out that tongue.

Daddy kisses!

The Gardens......
We are now harvesting potatoes, beets, lettuce, peas, broccoli, cabbage, green onions, baby carrots and zucchini. I just LOVE fresh garden produce! The cauliflower is getting close to being ready. And the tomatoes have little green tomatoes on them.

Potato plants

Addy picking peas. She is a big help and she knows how to pick them using both hands. Now whenever we go outside she heads straight for the peas picks off a couple pods and walks around chomping on them. So cute! Reminds me of when I was a child.

Broccoli, Tomatoes, Cabbage and more tomatoes

Our HUGE cauliflower plants!

Onions, lettuce, green beans, peppers, cabbage, edemame, navy beans and corn

Green Beans

Corn

Vine crops....the small hills are cucumbers, the big one in the middle is the squash, off to the right is the zucchini and the one in the back to the left is pumpkins.

I was thinning the carrots....I couldn't believe how many I got.

The popcorn and gourds(on the left).

Addy wouldn't stand still for a picture.

Jake wanted a picture of his girls and his garden.

Closer up

I took a picture for our brochure for selling veggies. I am so proud of it I thought I would share :-).
