Susanna's baptism was last Saturday. It was pretty crazy around here with all the people at our house but it was nice to see everyone. Saturday, unfortunately was not a nice day. Addy had to stay inside which made her very ornery by evening. After supper everyone went out to enjoy some fresh air. Sunday was a beautiful day! After breakfast we all went out. The guys worked on the building and the gals planted perennials in my flower gardens. Sue had brought some flowers for me, it was good to get them in the ground.
Addy, Johnny, Josiah and Kirill coloring on Saturday when they couldn't go outside.
Susanna and Grandma cuddled under the beautiful blanket that grandma made for Susanna.
Susanna's baptism
Msgr. Goering anointing Susanna with the oil of catechumins (sp?)
Susanna very wide awake (Addy slept through the whole baptism :-).
"I baptize you in the name of the Father.....the Son.....and the Holy Spirit."
Bye, bye original sin! Baby Susanna you are now a member of the church!
Chrism oil.....Msgr. took a good wiff of it :-). I love the smell of it. Even after Susanna's bath on Monday I could still smell it.
Annointing with the Chrism oil.
Addy was helping me hold the candle. I told her not to touch the flame....we didn't want to repeat what Olue did :-).
The four of us with Susanna's godparents Jason and Katie.
Everybody waiting for pictures to be done so we can go eat ;-).
Our little family
With Deacon Arlie and Msgr. Goering.
Msgr. holding Susanna. We were so excited to find out that he was the replacement for our priest for the baptism. We both know him pretty well.
With Grandpa and Grandma Loegering
With Grandpa and Grandma Gapp.
Playing outside after supper. Olue and Addy were having fun on the slide.
Big slugger.....she's got good form ;-).
Run, Addy Run! She skipped first base and went to third :-).
Susanna's baptism cake.
Katie made the cake and then her and Kristina decorated it. It looked really good and tasted good too!
Susanna smiled for the first time on Sunday at Grandpa Loegering.
She liked when he talked to her.
Cheesy little grin :-).
Framing the wall.
Another angle.
This week Jake put plywood on, tar paper, and installed the window and door.
We are continuing to plant our garden. Everything is planted except the tomatoes, peppers, and beets. After that we need to mulch. It's crazy to think that most of our garden is planted by now when last year we didn't have anything planted until Memorial day. The stuff that is planted is doing really well. The hot spell we had last week took a toll on everything, but with plenty of watering and cooler temps this week they are thriving nicely.
Last night we started to weed our thistle and grass patch (our strawberry patch :-). All you could see before we weeded was thistles and grass. It is not too bad weeding, but it is disheartening because you know the thistles are just going to come back (sometimes worse than before). Jake said someone needs to come up with something that will take out all the thistle for good......I don't know if that will ever happen :-(.
The girls and I are surviving.....taking each day as it comes :-). Most days go really well....but there is the occasional bad day where NOTHING gets done. Addy is growing up SO fast! Susanna seems to be getting bigger daily.
Addy just woke up early from her nap.....so that is the end of this post.
