First Thanksgiving with the Loegerings

This Thanksgiving Jake and I went to Minnesota to spend it with his family. It was the first time I had been to their Thanksgiving. Jake had not been with his family for four Thanksgivings, ever since we started dating. He was happy to be home but we both missed the Thanksgiving with my family that we had been used to for the last couple years.

Grandpa with his granddaughters (Lu had just woken up).

Playing at Grandma and Grandpa Hayes'. We went there for Thanksgiving day and again on Friday for Christmas cookie making.

Jake and Josh have been working on Christmas presents for John and Addy. They are making them both rocking horses. These are some pieces that they were cutting out.

Cutting out more pieces.

Grandpa helped them a lot!

Cookie Making....
Friday morning, Sue, Katie, Stacie and I went Black Friday shopping. We didn't get up super early. We had a fun time walking around browsing the stores. Because we went later the stores actually were almost empty of people. It was the first time for me and I would have to say I had a good experience. Then we met everyone else at Grandma and Grandpa Hayes' to make cookies. It is a tradition that the Friday after Thanksgiving they make a couple different kinds of Christmas cookies, it starts getting you into the Christmas spirit. When we are there on Thanksgiving the house is decorated for fall/Thanksgiving. When we come back the next day the house "miraculously" gets transformed with Christmas decorations everywhere.

Johnny was a big help.....he only had to wash his hands a couple times because he stuck them in his mouth :-).

One of Johnny's cookies....lots of sprinkles.

Playtime!!!
Roger had been at the nursing home with his mom all Friday and most of Saturday. She was not doing too well. She actually passed away early that Sunday morning while we were there. It was a good thing, she had had Alzheimer's for many years. By the time she passed away she didn't remember anyone anymore and had stopped eating and drinking. I never knew her before the Alzheimer's but have heard many wonderful stories about her life. Last Thursday we traveled back to Minnesota for the funeral, we were really happy we went. Because of that Roger hadn't spent much time with the grandkids during much of the Thanksgiving weekend. He made up for it Saturday night.

Playing with Grandpa.

Addy tossing toys....a usual thing for her.

Grabing more toys.

She was getting excited to go "get" grandpa.

Attacking grandpa.

Opps! Addy pushed over Lu...they both were fine :-).

Cutie pie!

Jared was trying to put it on Addy's head.

She liked it on his head better.
